Hi, I’m Diana Odom, I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and I love Disney! I went to Walt Disney World when I was around 3 or so, but that doesn’t really count because I don’t remember it! When I went to Walt Disney World again the next time, it was for my senior high trip for Grad Nite and I was hooked! Then a month later, I went to Disneyland with my family and I was addicted! I’ve gone to the parks as often as I can afford since then, even including our Honeymoon 8 years ago!
I love that Disney Parks transport me from everyday life into fairytale lands, far off places, and the past as well as a glimpse at the future. I love the food, the scenery, the rides, and the peaceful moments found sitting on my “happy place”, the Wedway PeopleMover/Tomorrowland Transit Authority. I love walking through Disneyland and knowing I could retrace Walt’s footsteps. There’s just a magic about that man, his vision, his dedication, it’s so inpsiring and I love that whenever I go, thanks to his designs, there’s always something new to discover!
Once I started taking Disney trips, I started taking lots of photos while I was there, like, in the thousands! I just wanted to soak it all in and capture it all! I used a Canon point and shoot until 2009 when my husband surprised me with a Canon dslr for Christmas. Ever since then I’ve been learning as I go with both travel photography and portraiture. I’ve more recently been able to combine the two and take some portraits in Walt Disney World. I must admit, taking photos of people in Walt Disney World is far more fun and gratifying to me than taking a photo of Cinderella’s Castle, but that’s still really fun too! I love that Disney has allowed me to make so many new friends whether it’s through just a general love of the parks, Disney photography, or my other love: running! I started running in 2011 due to some health issues and I’m obsessed with distance running now partly because of the fun runDisney events!
So, recently Mark asked me to come share a photo a week, and you don’t have to ask me twice to do anything photography related! I actually help run a Disney-photography centered blog with 2 other Disney photography friends, it’s called The Glass Slipper Blog. We share photos and tips there so if you want more, be sure to check it out as well!
I’ll begin sharing a Disney photo here each week, along with how I captured it, as well as share some photo tips every other week that can hopefully grow your Disney photography, or any photography for that matter!
So please come follow along and to start us off right, here comes a photo for this week! I’m going to WDW on Sunday with my husband and some friends and we’re catching the end of Flower and Garden Festival! So, since April showers bring May flowers: here’s a shot from last year’s Flower and Garden Festival to brighten your day!
This photo was taken with an 8mm Rokinon fisheye lens, f/11, ISO 200, shutter speed of 1/250 and edited in Aperture
See ya real soon!
