This week I’m taking another look at my Disney food bucket list and at the top of that list is Via Napoli! Libby and Jess rave about it all the time on Gen Mouse and if you listen to the podcast you know it’s not just the food they enjoy
As you probably know, Via Napoli is one of the newest restaurants in Word Showcase opening in summer 2010 and specializes in authentic Italian pizzas.
All the reviews I have read say that the pizzas at Via Napoli are the best on Disney property (some have even said the best in Florida). That is because they use quality ingredients. This isn’t Pizza Planet pizza. The flour is imported from Italy. The cheese is homemade. The water is identical to the water in Naples.
You can begin you meal at Via Napoli with Piccoli Piatti, or small plates including Fritto di Verdura, crisp fried vegetables, and Salami e Provolone, cured sausage and imported cheese. Next on the menu is Antipasti, or appetizers, including Arancini, fried risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella and meat ragu, and several soups.
For a main course, there are several pastas on the menu. Just like the pizzas, their pastas as baked in one of three wood fired ovens. Another entree choice is Piatti alla Parmigiana which is a traditional preparation with tomato sauce, parmesan and mozzarella, served with roasted potatoes and your choice of either chicken, veal, or eggplant.
Pizza is the star at Via Napoli. You have the option to create your own pizza, but the available toppings are not the typical take-out pizza options. You can load your pizza up with artichokes, arugula, and prosciutto. Or, you can indulge in one of Via Napoli’s signature pies. The Quattro Formaggi sounds amazing to me with mozzarella, parmesan, fontina, and provolone cheeses! For picky eaters there is also the pepperoni pizza, which is exactly like it sounds.
And in case you’re not drooling enough, the desserts sound amazing as well! They have traditional Italian desserts like tiramisu and zeppole. Sorbetto would be perfect on a hot summer day in Florida.
And Via Napoli is not just about the food (as Libby and Jess will tell you, but I’m not going into the servers), the architecture of the building is gorgeous. I just want to sit in the dining room and look around. Not to mention the detail they put into the ovens, “Vesuvius”, “Stromboli”, and “Etna”.
I think Via Napoli has quickly become the star of World Showcase, if not all of Walt Disney World and I cannot wait to dine here! To view the whole menu visit http://allears.net/menu/menu_vianap.htm.
Have you dined at Via Napoli? Is it as wonderful as I’ve heard? Please, let me know in a comment!
