Extinct Eats: Pure & Simple

Let’s take a step back in time to 1995 to the Wonders of Life Pavilion. Inside the pavilion was a counter service location known as Pure & Simple. It may seem like a minor thing to look at, but I think Pure & Simple paved the way for the dining locations we have today.

Since the Wonders of Life was a health based pavilion, the food was “guilt free”. One of the most popular items on the menu was the Wonder Waffle. In the beginning, there was a hot toppings bar to go with the waffle. Over time, the toppings bar was taken away and replaced with sauce cups. Eventually, some unhealthy items were added as well, but the healthy ones were denoted with red apples.

The sign for Pure & Simple was taken down and the restaurant was closed for good in 2001.

Today, we are seeing healthy options added to counter service menus around property. While, Pure & Simple was never a place that you made a point to visit on your trip, it was a good place to go if you were looking for a quick bite when you were in the Wonders of Life Pavilion. And it was probably not the place you wanted to stop at directly before riding Body Wars.

Did you ever eat at Pure & Simple? What do you miss about Wonders of Life?
