Changes come to Future World!
A few updates in scenery and merchandise hit Future World over the last week or so and some of the changes have a lot of people talking! First off as you come through the parking lot and turnstiles area you will notice the new “Let the Memories Begin” Banners for the new celebration at Disney World. Beyond that you will notice that Spaceship Earth has un-matching leg designs (For the moment). In the picture below the leg on the right is what we’ve been used to for a while with a design that matches the Leave a Legacy monuments and on the right, we have the new solid blueish color that will be making its way to the other legs soon.
Entering Innoventions Plaza, even more things are changing! Walls and ropes are up around various parts of the Plaza while piece by piece the concrete is redone and recolored to what I believe is going to be a blue/grey pattern. The whirly-gigs are also coming down bit by bit in the area which gives the feel of opening up the area a bit, and to complement that, new signs have been installed in the East and West Breezeways.
New 40th Anniversary of Walt Disney World merchandise is starting to appear as well! A new 6 Pin Set featuring EPCOT Center logos is on sale for around $50, as well as a wooden set of 40th Anniversary Pins that is around the $200-$250 price range (This is NOT confirmed yet). Both can be found in the Pin Kiosk in the center area of Innoventions Plaza.
Mousegears has slowly started putting out new EPCOT Center shirts since the holidays ended, and there’s a new one (and one I REALLY want!) that features the original logos of EPCOT Center’s Future World.
Finally, to round out the new merchandise, the Captain EO Cart is now selling Fuzzball and Hooter plush dolls. I may have to break down and buy a fuzzball.
