Great blog, and it was good to read after all the negative publicity this week. I have been in your shoes (or chair in this case), and yes I have felt that people are "looking" at me. Hopefully not. As a parent we have used the way Disney takes care of disabled folks as a learning tool with our kids, and if we saw someone with a hidden disability, (for instance if we noticed someone used a GAC) we would talk about how not all disabilities can be seen. So from our standpoint, like in many things in life, we used it for a teaching point.

I enjoyed your post, Libby! When traveling with a disability it's so easy to focus on what we can't do instead of rejoicing in the things we CAN!

Good write-up, Libby! Word to the wise, though: DO NOT try to use a guest assistance pass at Haunted Mansion, particularly if you have pain issues. Kristen has tried to use one a number of times, and they are generally less than sensitive to her needs... And the "cobblestones" lining the queue make for a rumbly ride in the ECV, much like driving over rumble strips on the highway, and causes her excruciating pain.

Overall, though, Disney World does a good job of being accessible and sensitive to people with special needs of all kinds.

Wow! Thanks for sharing because I've often wondered about this. I've been worried that a tour like this would ruin the magic. I went on one "backstage experience" at a conference once and they drove us behind all the EPCOT buildings - it was terrible. I never wanted to see that.

Twitter, the Twitter directory based innovation I'm talking about is a great example of the sort. A hashtag is a word or series of words (no spaces or punctuation) preceeded by a pound sign and referring to the topic or category of a Tweet. If you do not really require them to answer, auto-tweets definitely serve you.
