We Will Grow Together
Epcot opened on October 1, 1982, exactly 175 days before the day I was born. As long as I have known Disney World, I have known Epcot. It has been where my favorite memories have been made, and has always been my favorite park.
Since the beginning of 2011, Mark and Libby have given me the honor or blogging about the place I love so much. Most of my comments have been positive, talking about the history or my favorite moments and memories in the park. Some of my comments have been negative, as at time I feel like Disney has neglected a park that deserves more effort that something like Avatarland because of the amount of forethought Walt had for it. Disneyland was his baby, and the Magic Kingdom was its counterpart, but EPCOT Center was his dream. I wish the Imagineers would remember that, and put the amount of devotion and energy into making it the best park it can be as Walt would have. Our Epcot Center deserves that. All the Walt inspired dreamers deserve it.
To Epcot on its 30th birthday, I say thank you. You have brought me many hours of happiness, many new friends to share information and time with, and many memories that I will never forget. I spent my 25th birthday with you. I started and ended my first marathon with you in my sight. You have given me hours of happiness. Being only 175 days apart in age, we will grow old together, and we both do and will hold scars of people and dreams that have come and gone. But we both will Keep Moving Forward, as Walt would have wanted, and hopefully bring education, dreams, and ideas to people that we cross paths with.
Thank you for all that you have given us all. Happy Birthday Epcot!
