I was giving some thought on possible new blog series, and out of that came the idea for this new Throwback Thursday! Every Thursday, we’re going to highlight one of our favorite things from the 70s, 80′s, 90′s of Disney, and I thought no better way to kick this off, than one of my favorite Classic 1990′s Disney Channel Shows, “Walt Disney World Inside Out!”!
Disney Channel had some amazing shows during the 90′s however this one just really stuck and gave an awesome look at what’s going on at the Disney Parks and it changed right along with the months/seasons at Disney, as well as filmed partially in Disney’s MGM Studios (as it was known back then). It ran from 1994 to 1997 and had an interesting line-up for co-hosts, and you may remember them better than you think! Brianne Leary (Best known for her role on CHiPS), JD Roth and George Foreman (yes, the one who makes the grills, and may have dabbed in boxing) would give viewers weekly updates, along with a lot of really cool behind the scenes look at various attractions and shows. It was also not uncommon to have special guests appear for various segments either! Ben Savage (Boy Meets World), Gilbert Gottfried (Iago), Shaq, Jay Leno all appeared on the show and would often be the “Special Guest Host” for the behind the scenes segments.
Where all did we get to see behind the scenes? Backstage of the Tower of Terror during construction, the former Lion King show in Magic Kingdom (where Philharmagic currently is), The Living Seas, and the construction of Disney’s All Star Music resort were all visited, and this is no where near the full list! The other thing that made the show really stick out to me, was that it had something for adults as well as kids, and it was something you could really enjoy at any age, as well as being filmed in front of a live audience in the parks. There are a few episodes floating around on YouTube, and are certainly worth checking out!
What was the topic on the final episode? December 14, 1997: The “Epcot Food Show” which, as we all know, became the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival!
