Three Hours In Epcot

On a recent episode of Generation Mouse, my co-hosts and I discussed what we would do if we only had three hours to spend in the Magic Kingdom.  This got me thinking about what I would do if I only had three hours to spend in EPCOT.  As there are so many things you can do from Innoventions to World Showcase, I have only picked a few.  It’s not to say I don’t love everything about EPCOT, but I only have three hours!  Of course, I would spend my three hours in the park during the evening to avoid the heat, and one other very special reason.  So, let’s get started…

The first thing you notice when walking into EPCOT is the giant Spaceship Earth.  As this ride is one of my favorites, I would head there first.  I love learning about the history of communication.  The use of scenery and audio animatronics bring the journey to life and make this ride interesting and fun.  Not to mention, it is a great way to beat the heat during warmer times of the year.  For me, this ride is a great because I adore history and there is so much to learn!

Second, I would head to Soarin’.   I love the feeling of flying over the county.  I love the smell of the oranges and the pine cones.  Now, I am normally terrified of heights, but I absolutely love Soarin’.  I think the coolest thing is when you are in the front row, you are lifted higher than the other rows, so for me it really amplifies the feeling of being in the air.  If you have not tried this ride before, please do.  It is amazing!  You forget about the height, and truly get lost in the feeling of flying over all the scenery.

By the time it is all said and done between the rides, and taking small breaks to get something to drink, or rest it would be about eight in the evening which means I would need to head to World Showcase to find the perfect spot to watch Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.  For anyone who knows me or my husband, you know that we absolutely love Illuminations.  I think our perfect spot to watch would be in Italy.  This allows us to go to Karamell-Kuche in Germany for some delicious caramel covered treats.  Then it is time for the show!  I have shared with you what I would do if I only had three hours in EPCOT.  Now, I want to hear from you.  What would you do if you only had three hours to spend in EPCOT?  Would you catch your favorite rides, see a show, walk around World Showcase?  The time is yours!

    This is a good post to follow because I’m about to purchase an EPCOT after 4 pass and would love to know the best ways to get the most out of my 5 hours every trip!

    Oh! Well, I would’ve put something but I haven’t purchased it yet! So, that’s why I’m hoping people chime in so I can get some ideas of the best way to maximize my short time there!

    I love Soarin but that would take too much time. I would hit SSE and walk thru the Living Seas before enjoying time around WS. I would make sure I ate and ate and hit the Maelstrom

    So I got my annual after 4 pass and went on Monday. I got there around 5:30 and what I noticed is most of the guests were leaving when I got there. It seemed as if most people had done what they they wanted to do by that time and we’re on their way out for dinner or whatever. That made getting on the rides really easy. I ended up seeing Captain EO (because I hadn’t seen it since the 80s, of course). Afterwards, I got some fish n’ chips and walked around the World Showcase looking for all the nooks and crannies I would’ve avoided in the past since I wouldn’t have been able to return after I was done then! I spent most of the time in Japan looking at the store and then decided to get on Soarin’. It took about 10 minutes and I got on. I was going to find a place for Illuminations but decided to see if I could get on Spaceship Earth one last time. I rode that, saw the fireworks finale and went home.

    All in all, I felt like I really got a lot about of the 4 hours I was there. They say the park closes at 9 but you can really spend a good deal of time after 9 doing stuff.
