Rumors are flying that there is (finally) a nighttime show coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom called Rivers of Light. The show began production back in 2006 and was developed alongside World of Color but was tabled in 2008. As much as I can tell, Rivers of Light is water-based parade (ala Electrical Water Pageant) with projection-based technology on the Tree of Life and floating lanterns.
According to Jim Hill, production of the show was put on hold because it would’ve required major changes to the park. In order to accommodate space for both viewers of the show and space for others to walk around the park, thousands of plants would’ve had to be removed which would significantly change the look and feel of the park (and cost a lot of money).
So, why are these rumors coming back to the surface now? Could it be that these changes may be happening anyway for Avatarland? According to The Disney Hipsters, Rivers of Light recently had a successful testing after hours and will be debuting in 2014.
What do you think? What would you like to see in a nighttime show at DAK?
