Keep, Change, Remove

Recently we recorded an episode of Generation Mouse with the focus being on what we would keep, change and remove from each park at the Walt Disney World Resort. I sat down a few hours before we recorded to start making my lists. At first thought, I assumed that I would have a lot of trouble coming up with each category per park. Surprisingly, I quickly had a great list!

So let’s talk about Epcot… Obviously, the name of this website would steer it that way!

Keep:
Living with the Land- My FAVORITE attraction ever, Classic
Soarin’- The technology behind this ride is amazing
Turtle Talk with Crush- How cute is this show!?!
Spaceship Earth- Iconic. What would Epcot be without it?

Change:
American Pavilion- If you read my last post, you would understand my feelings about this
Imagination Pavilion- Really? Michael Jackson is the best you could come up with for Imagination?
Universe of Energy- We need a major refurb here.

Remove:
Mission Space- This is a rough attraction, even if you do the non-spinning side. I don’t think this is what Walt had in mind…
Empty Wonders of Life Pavilion- What a waste of space! Give us something exciting!
Circle of Life: Environmental Fable- Little out-dated. Can do without

    I agree with everything except the American Pavilion. It is one of the best ones in EPCOT…what would you change about it?

    Oh, great topic! I saw this posted last night and knew it would be a good one to save for the morning.

    I actually like the return of EO because it’s a part of the Disney past and I never go to experience it. I don’t think they should keep it around for long, though. It’s nice to have it back for a bit but they need something else there.

    I totally agree about Ellen’s energy adventure. Being green, and environmentalism seem to be much more read about and explored topics in recent years and I am sure there are so many other topics they can indulge in. Teach us something!

    I do also like the Living with the Land ride, but thing that esp. toward the end we can have a minor update. The kid pictures for one thing. Maybe a bit more current?

    I also don’t think I would remove the Circle of Life show, just update it.

    Epcot is definitely one of those parks that feels like a work in progress, and also like the forgotten child. I wish that Apple would take over and sponsor a Pavilion. (Have I said that before on here?) I would definitely NOT change the park audio tho. I think it’s some of the best. I would also love for a sit-down restaurant in the front of the park actually. So…

    Keep:
    Mexico Pavilion
    Soarin
    Spaceship Earth
    UK Pavilion

    Change:
    Ellen Energy Adventure
    Add a little bit more into the World Showcase pavilions. Something that is not a shop or a restaurant. Would like to learn more. Or have the opportunity to do so.
    Test Track (seems out of place to me)

    Remove:
    Okay fine, I would remove the Lion King show if they updated Ellen’s Energy Adventure. I don’t want to choose any to remove! I feel like I’m hurting someone’s feelings. Okay, how about the Outpost? It reminds me a lot of AK now. If they could alter it to make it seem like a different experience, that would be great. Otherwise, I sort of pass it by.

    Keep: Living With The Land. It’s the last uniquely EPCOT Center thing left in the park, and every time I’m on it I always see delighted kids. Not all of today’s youth are brain-dead adrenaline junkies.

    Change: The Imagination pavilion. It’s an eyesore right now, the result of 13 years of short-sighted cost-cutting and executive incompetence. It needs a well-funded overhaul aimed at turning it back into the timeless classic it once was.

    Remove: Innoventions. Or at least consolidate it into one side, east or west. The days when every piece of exhibition space had a corporate sponsor are permanently behind us. The only good Innoventions exhibit is Sum of All Thrills; everything else is low-budget science museum stuff. I think Innoventions should be consolidated into the East side, and the West side should be used for some kind of small-scale EPCOT Center-flavored attraction.
